Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art akin to “breakdance fighting.”  Since its invention by African slaves in the 16th Century, it has served two roles:  Trickery and self-defense.  These images were commissioned by Capoeira Brasil Los Angeles, an internationally renowned school for use on their website and as publicity stills.  My goal was to capture both the beauty, and the violence of this martial art.
